King Charles III has reportedly offered Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet accommodation on a royal estate during a planned family visit to the United Kingdom. The reported offer, first detailed by People, would give the Duke and Duchess of Sussex a formal royal base while they attend events connected to the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027.
The visit would mark the Sussex family’s first trip to Britain together since 2022, when Archie and Lilibet traveled for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. The children have lived primarily in California since Harry and Meghan stepped back as working members of the royal family in 2020.
The timing gives the visit added meaning. The Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 are scheduled for July 10 to July 17, 2027, according to the Invictus Games Foundation. Harry founded the competition in 2014 to support wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans through adaptive sport.
Still, the reported accommodation offer does not resolve the central issue that has shaped Harry’s UK visits: security. On May 2, 2025, the Court of Appeal dismissed his challenge over changes to taxpayer-funded police protection. The ruling left him with a more tailored, case-by-case security arrangement rather than the automatic protection he previously received as a working royal.
No palace statement has confirmed whether the Sussexes have accepted the accommodation offer, and no official family reunion has been announced. For now, the story remains a careful balance of public duty, private family hope and unresolved questions about safety.

A possible return to Britain for Prince Harry and Meghan has placed renewed attention on King Charles’s relationship with his younger son and grandchildren.
According to People, Charles has offered the Sussex family accommodation connected to the royal household during their expected UK visit. The report stated the offer had not yet received a confirmed response from Harry and Meghan. That detail matters because royal accommodation would provide a symbolic gesture of welcome, but it would not automatically settle the security arrangements that Harry has challenged in court.
Security decisions for senior royals, former working royals and other public figures are handled through the Home Office and RAVEC, the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures. In 2025, the Court of Appeal found that Harry had not shown a legal basis to overturn the revised approach to his protection.
After the ruling, Harry told the BBC:
“I would love reconciliation with my family.”
He also said he did not feel able to bring Meghan and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to the UK safely under the existing arrangements.
The reported offer of accommodation is therefore significant, but it should not be overstated. It suggested that the door to a family visit is not closed, while also showing that the practical and emotional issues surrounding Harry’s return remain complicated.
For King Charles, the possibility of seeing Archie and Lilibet in Britain carries obvious personal weight. For Harry, the Invictus Games remain one of the clearest links between his public life, military service and charitable work. If the Sussexes accept the offer, the visit would be more than a royal appearance. It would be a test of whether family ties, public roles and security concerns can exist under the same roof.
