Princess of Wales Breaks Dress Code at Royal Engagement, Official Speaks Out

The Princess of Wales stepped out to visit V&A East Storehouse in East London on Tuesday (it’s a branch of the Victoria and Albert Museum, where she’s a patron!), and casually broke the “dress code.”

The Princess of Wales stepped out in a blue suit and pair of chic heels—despite the museum rules stating that people should wear flats.

Direct quote: “We recommend wearing practical clothing and flat shoes. The metal grid flooring is not suitable for stilettos or kitten heels.”

Apparently, Catherine choosing to ignore this request and wear heels was such a thing that People went ahead and spoke to Tristram Hunt, the literal director of the V&A, who commented on the moment with a simple “She is a pro! She dealt with that!” Also, for what it’s worth the floors on this tour appear to have been concrete so…not sure what the problem was!

Either way, Tristan added “It went really well. She was really focused on the objects — it is impressive. She had a super energy. She was very energetic and focused. We last saw her about two years ago. She retains this great passion and interest in creativity and making and design. It was wonderful to be able to host her.”

The outlet also points out that Catherine has a history of opting for heels even when flats are a more practical choice, and back in 2018 got her foot straight up stuck in a grate while visiting an addiction treatment center in Wickford while pregnant.
