Prince George’s royal title might be temporarily taken away by William and Kate

Prince George’s royal title could end up being taken away by his parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton.

While Prince William is currently heir to the throne, that title will soon belong to Prince George.

It’s hopefully not something the family will have to think about soon, but when Prince William becomes King, the title ‘Prince of Wales’ would be handed to Prince George.

According to reports, George became more aware of his future after the late Queen Elizabeth II passed away.

Royal expert and historian Marlene Koenig told Us Weekly: “Barring any accidents or health issues, George will not be king for some years. He is second in line — as his father is the heir apparent — and his grandfather is the king.

“The Coronation provided the young prince with the knowledge that he, too, would one day be crowned in a Coronation ceremony. George may be a 12-year-old schoolboy who loves sports, but he is most certainly aware of his future.”

According to insiders, if George does become heir to the throne earlier than anticipated, he may not receive the Prince of Wales title straight away.

“They would want him to focus on having freedom before giving him any royal titles,” an insider told PEOPLE.

Meanwhile, royal author, Robert Lacey added: “I imagine that when William talks to George about things like this, he uses words like ‘destiny’ rather than ‘duty.’ ‘Duty’ has a sense of being trapped; ‘destiny’ has a sense of choice.”

Prince George has recently turned 12 and although not confirmed, it’s expected he will go on to study at Eton College.

He is expected to leave his current school, Lambrook preparatory school, in the summer of 2026.

Former royal butler Grant Harrold, who worked for King Charles III, then the Prince of Wales, between 2004 and 2011, has revealed a career in the armed forces could also be on the cards for George.

When asked if it would be ‘frowned upon’ if George and his siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, didn’t go on to study at university, Grant replied: “I don’t think it would [be frowned upon] these days.

“We may find that George, Charlotte, and Louis might not all go to university. They may go straight to somewhere like Sandhurst.

“In particular, George, as it is seen as vital for future kings to have had some sort of military training, so you can guarantee that George, whether he likes it or not, will have to go through that military training,” he continued.

“You’re the commanding chief of the Armed Forces, so you’ve got to know the profession.”
