As Meghan Markle marks her 44th birthday today, a Royal expert suggests that she may only receive well-wishes from one member of the Royal Family amidst the ongoing rift with the Firm since stepping back in 2020-and she should expect the snub.
Celebrating in Montecito, California, Meghan is likely surrounded by family, like husband Prince Harry, and her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
And while well-wishes would likely be seen a positive moment after her turbulent year that saw backlash over her podcast and a Netflix “flop,” it’s something she isn’t set to expect from the senior members of the family. It comes after Meghan Markle’s ‘inappropriate’ request to the Queen that was ‘firmly denied’ was revealed.
Royal commentator Jennie Bond remarked, “I don’t think Meghan should hold her breath for birthday messages from the Royal Family, though it may well be that Princess Eugenie – and possibly Beatrice- will send a present or a card.”
Bond speculated on the birthday festivities, saying, “As far as I can see, he [Prince Harry] is still head over heels in love with Meghan and will probably organise a romantic dinner or perhaps a beach party with friends and lots of children to celebrate their happy family life in California. Maybe a sunrise yoga session would set the day up rather nicely!”

Typically, non-working royals like Meghan and Prince Harry are acknowledged publicly by the Royal Family only on milestone birthdays ending in 0 or 5.
Princess Eugenie has maintained a close relationship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle despite their decision to step away from their Royal roles, reports the Express–so she likely will actually make an effort to reach out to her close friend.
The Princess of York’s attendance at Royal Ascot with Misha Nonoo, a known confidante of Meghan, in June this year hinted at an enduring bond with Meghan as they were seen enjoying the prestigious Berkshire racing event together.
Misha has been a shared friend between Eugenie and Meghan, their connection predating Meghan’s introduction to Prince Harry in 2016.

Meghan received her last public birthday greeting from the Royal Family during her milestone 40th birthday in 2021.
Recently, the Duchess of Sussex has kept a low profile on her Instagram account.
However, her lifestyle brand, As Ever, announced last week that a new batch of her rose wine will be available for sale.
A Royal commentator noted, “I think Meghan deserves to be pretty happy with how this year has gone so far. Whatever she does or says gets slammed in the media, but she has built up a substantial social media following in very little time, the products that she endorses or sells seem to do exceptionally well, and her TV and podcast shows – although clearly not ground breaking – are perfectly watchable, however much her critics like to pan them.”
