Prince Harry opened up about the influence of his mother Princess Diana on his children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
He also voiced a desire relating to Diana and his own young family he shares with wife Meghan Markle.
Prince Harry set up the Sentebale charity with friend Prince Seeiso in tribute to both of their mothers. Princess Diana following a tragic car crash in Paris in 1997. She was only 36 years old. The organisation was founded to help young people affected by HIV/AIDS in southern Africa.
However, fast forward to 2025 and the royal has now stepped down from his position related to the charity after scandals hit headlines.

Prince Harry tribute to mum Diana
Speaking after participating in the Polo Cup in 2022, Harry mentioned how the charity is named after the Lesotho word for forget-me-nots. He likened the flower’s name to his mother, saying Diana “most certainly will never be forgotten”.
He also expressed a ‘wish’ for a family moment involving Archie and Lilibet that sadly will never come.
Harry continued: “I want it to be a day to share the spirit of my mum with my family, with my children, who I wish could have met her.”
Harry also indicated he strives to honour Diana’s legacy, particularly with regards to her charity work.
He continued: “Every day, I hope to do her proud.
“She was tireless in her work to support and stigmatise those experiencing HIV/AIDS. Fittingly, her favourite flowers were forget-me-nots.
“I hope we can remember my mother’s legacy by recommitting to those we serve, whoever and wherever that may be.”

Harry’s heartbreak over charity founded in memory of Diana
In April of this year, Prince Harry was embroiled in a charity row which saw him step down. He made the ‘devastating’ decision over relationships within the organisation ‘breaking down’ 20 years after he launched it.
When he started the charity with friend and fellow prince, he was committed to the cause for life.
He said at the time: “You’ll be surprised. Come back to this place in 25 years, you’ll see a massive difference.”
He added: “As far as I’m concerned, I’m committed for the rest of my life.”
Sadly, he was no longer involved in the charity he set up in memory of his mother.

Picture of Princess Diana
One way Meghan and Harry are ensuring Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet get to know their grandmother Princess Diana is by a framed photo in their nursery.
Through their Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, which was released in 2022, we saw a clip of Meghan holding little Archie next to a photo of the late Princess of Wales, which was on the nursery wall.
Archie, who was just a baby, is seen babbling as he looks at Diana.
Meghan says to him: “Who’s that? Grandma? Yeah. It’s your Grandma Diana.”

It’s believed the footage was taken while they were in Frogmore Cottage, before the family left to live in California. Archie would have been younger than 12 months old at the time.
The duke also addressed the backlash he received for speaking out against the royal family in the docuseries.
But he referenced his mother’s death as a vital reason behind his decision. Harry explained: “I accept that there will be people around the world who fundamentally disagree with what I’ve done and how I’ve done it.
“But I knew that I had to do everything I could to protect my family, especially after what happened to my mum. I didn’t want history to repeat itself.”
