On July 12, the Princess of Wales, 43, stepped into the spotlight at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London to present the trophies after the ladies’ singles final.

The Saturday match was between Iga Swiatek of Poland and Amanda Anisimova of the U.S., with Swiatek coming out on top. Princess Kate had the honor of awarding the trophies in her role as the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

Princess Kate is a keen tennis player with a tennis court at Anmer Hall, her country home, and has gone to Wimbledon almost every year since marrying Prince William in 2011. Queen Elizabeth named Kate the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in 2016, which comes with the privilege of presenting trophies at Wimbledon.

Princess Kate received an especially warm welcome as she arrived to take her seat in the Royal Box, with the crowd on its feet to clap and cheer for her. The move was interpreted as a strong show of support for the royal (who seemed to be surprised by the passionate reaction!), who reduced her public duties last year to focus on her health.
