Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor ‘threatened with weapon’ while out on dog walk

A man has been arrested for possession of an offensive weapon close to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s home on the Sandringham Estate on Wednesday evening (6 May), Norfolk Police said.

The Telegraph reports that Andrew was out walking his dogs when he was confronted by a ‘balaclava-clad’ man who was sitting in a car.

The man was said to have spotted the disgraced former Duke of York 50 yards away and then got out of his vehicle and made his way towards Andrew while shouting at him.

Norfolk Police confirmed the news, telling Tyla in a statement: “Officers were called to Wolferton shortly after 7.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 6 May 2026) following a report a man was behaving in an intimidating manner in the village.

“Officers attended, and the man was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence and possession of an offensive weapon. He was taken to King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre for questioning and remains in custody.”

Yesterday’s incident comes after Andrew was stripped of his remaining royal titles due to his association with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein late last year.

News of the decision to remove his princedom was announced in October 2025 by a representative of Buckingham Palace, who declared: “His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew.

“Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence.”

The statement also detailed that Andrew would also be removed from Royal Lodge, where he and ex-wife Sarah Ferguson had resided since 2004.

“Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation,” the statement continued. “These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him.

“Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”

Andrew has previously faced allegations, which he strenuously denies, that he sexually assaulted a teenage Virginia Giuffre after she was trafficked by Epstein.

He later paid an unspecified sum to settle with Giuffre – reportedly £12 million. Giuffre died by suicide in April 2025, a woman he claims never to have met, to settle a civil sexual assault claim in 2022.

Andrew’s representatives have not yet publicly responded to a request for a comment, per PA.

Royal News has reached out to Buckingham Palace for comment.
